Janet Wolfe Named Ernst & Young 2009 Entrepreneur Of The Year® Award Finalist in New England

BOSTON, MA – (BUSINESS WIRE) – May 19, 2009 – Ernst & Young announced that Dr. Janet Wolfe, President and Founder of Wolfe Laboratories, Inc. (WLI), a biopharmaceutical development company located in Watertown, MA, is a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2009 Award in New England – the world’s most prestigious business award for entrepreneurs.

Celebrating its 23rd anniversary, this year-long program is the only global business recognition program held on 6 continents, in more than 50 countries, and over 135 cities. Ernst & Young’s awards program recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate extraordinary success in the areas of innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. The award makes a difference through the way it encourages entrepreneurial activity among those with potential and recognizes the contribution of people who inspire others with their vision, leadership and achievement.

“Entrepreneurs contribute so much to our economy and the fabric of this nation,” said Kim Reinert Ernst & Young LLP Entrepreneur Of The Year Program Co-Chair for New England. “These finalists help our region create jobs, while encouraging community growth, development and innovation. We are pleased to honor them.”

Selected as one of 35 finalists from over 100 applicants, Dr. Wolfe’s high standards are reflected in Wolfe Laboratories’ vision to improve human health, and in its mission to provide outstanding biopharmaceutical discovery and development services tailored to clients’ needs. “Ernst & Young’s awards program was a great experience to go through and I had the opportunity to meet many wonderful people along the way,” said Dr. Wolfe. “I attribute my success to the hard work, dedication, and continuous support of Wolfe’s team.”

Dr. Wolfe was also awarded the 2009 WEST Leadership Award by Women Entrepreneurs in Science and Technology and Boston’s Entrepreneur of the Year by the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce in 2008. Moreover, WLI recently received Massachusetts Life Sciences Center’s $500,000 Accelerator Loan to construct the first stage of an aseptic fill/finish manufacturing facility for pre-clinical development and clinical trials.

The 2009 New England award recipients will be announced at an exclusive black tie gala event on June 16, 2009 at the Marriott Newton Hotel and submitted for consideration for the national Entrepreneur Of The Year awards held in Palm Springs, California, on November 14, 2009.
